「砭」是中國傳統五大醫療體系之一，原本是作為動詞，《說文解字》：「以石刺病也」，也就是說以石頭擊刺來治病之意。因此，早期只要使用石製工具在身上推磨按敲治病都稱為「砭術」，直到具有吸收轉換病邪氣之石出現，「砭」才由動詞變為專有名詞，稱為「砭石」，與鍼同稱鍼砭、與灸同稱砭灸、與藥同稱砭藥。

Bian is one of the five therapeutic systems in Chinese traditional medicine. It means "using stone to treat disease", that is, people used stone-poking to treat various illness. Therefore, in the ancient time, when people took stone to push, rub, press or hit body in order to treat illness, the practice were called Bian-technique. The terminology of Bian-Stone was not recognized until a special stone was identified with ability to absorb or convert ailment and pathogeny. It was then Bian-accupunture, Bian-moxibustion and Bian-herbs subsequently developed.

而「砭」字旁的乏也深具涵意，不僅取其聲也取其義。乏是一種皮革製器具，用以保護唱靶者免受射偏弓箭威脅，因此，乏是指吸收負能量之意，當身體中的負能量像射偏弓箭不在正常軌道運行而產生病氣時，砭石即可發出射線或磁波能量，吸收正常氣脈旁那些走偏的病氣。也就是說，只有具有吸收、轉換、發射、滲透功能的石材，才可稱之為「砭石」，而以砭石治病之術則稱為「砭術」。

The right part of the Chinese characters Bian (Fa in pronunciation) also has its profound meanings. Fa is leather-made shield used to protect people from the derailed-arrow during archery games. Therefore, when it is implied in the words of Bian, Fa was symbolized as a shield that could absorb adverse energy that was not in its righteous circulation causing illness. Bian Stone was able to emit radiation and magnetic energy to absorb the distorted pathogeny and to give correct vital energy. Therefore, only the stone with absorption, conversion, emission and penetration activities can be names Bian-Stone, and the application of Bian-Stine in therapy is named Bian-techniques.

However, although the Bian stone and technique were shown to possess strong revival ability, their applications were buried later in the history. It is our responsibility to reveal this amazing technique again. Based on the archeology studies of Stone-age, we are able to deduce and imitate the technique and practice of ancient Bian-technique. With the support of modern Science, we begin to understand the secrets of Bian-stone and Bian-techniques. With application of the Bian tool, we hope to help people of modern age to solve their health problems.

Bian Stone is as precious as the Earth where it can't be replicated. The stone is materialized by nurturing the energy and Chi from the Universe and the Earth. 從天文學方面分析 analysis from the astronomy point of view
地球上任何石材，包括水晶、玉石，因為承接地球地氣與整個地球以外的頻率天氣，因此都帶有能量，但這些石材只是地球原產物，接收的天氣有限、能量不足。但砭石是由外太空慧星所帶來，經歷外太空一段漫長旅行，在蘊含高質量的天氣後，撞擊地球而與地氣結合成為稀有礦石。

All of the stones or stone-type materials, including crystals and jades, all have their own frequency and energy because they all absorb the energy form the Earth and the Universe. However, because they are originated from the Earth, they do have less energy form the Universe. Bian stone is a rare stone, brought to the Earth by Comet from outer space. It had been travel in the Universe for a long time before its collide into the Earth and nurtured for millions of years.

從考古學、地質學方面分析 analysis from the archaeology and geology points of view
地質學家在六千五百萬年前所形成的K-T地質層中發現，只存在於地核的銥元素，此層含量比其他層高出數十到數百倍，這種現象只有小天體撞擊地球才有可能發生，而根據地質學與考古學報告資料顯示，六千五百年前也是砭石能量產生的一個重要時間點。《史記》天官書中記載：「星墜至地則為石也」，古書《山海經》曰：「高氏之山，有石如玉」亦可佐證。

Geologist found Iridium in Cretaceous-Teriary (K-T) layer formed 65 million years ago. The Iridium generally should exist in the core of a planet while the K-T layer has tens to hundreds folds higher of Iridium contents as compared to the other geological layers suggesting that K-T layer may had comet collision occurred. Based on these archaeology and geology reports, 65 million years ago, was also an important time points for the formation of Bian stone and its energy. A

沖擊坑形成模式是在隕石撞擊地層時，拋擲於空中的地質碎片，我們觀察到在砭石產地方圓五十公里，到處散佈大小不等、奇形怪狀的岩石碎片，驗證當地在遠古時代的確有大隕石撞擊的情形。
當直徑大小10公尺或更大的隕石沖擊地表時，其平均沖擊速度為25km/s，並具有相當大的動能在沖擊作用下產生爆炸，此沖擊能量傳給地面產生沖擊坑，沖擊波迅速傳播而使能量向下向外傳遞和轉移。

When the comet impacted on the Earth surface, a collision pit was formed. Based on the spread pieces of earth shells caused by the collision, within a 50 km diameter surrounding area, we found rock pieces with various shapes and sizes supporting that there were big comet collision occurred at that time. When a comet with diameter larger than 10 meters hit on Earth surface, its average impact speed was 25km/s where the high speed impacts would generate explosion and transfer its energy downwards and outwards.

古法探秘 explore the secret of ancient techniques
以經筋學說為基礎，解結法為原理，還原古砭術的醫療原貌

With meridian channels theory as foundation and "untie the knots" methods as principle, the application ancient Bian-stone technique in therapeutics was revealed.

從眾多歷史古籍中，我們發現許多古代名醫使用砭石進行醫療的記載，從這些史料中我們推測出古砭術基礎原理應為「經筋學說」，再加上砭具「刺、刮、推、撥」四種運用手法來推演，其治療原理則是來自《黃帝內經》所說的「解結」法。

From the history records, we found that many ancient doctors applied Bian stone in their medical practice. Based on these history records, we deduced that the foundation of Bian techniques should be meridian channel theory. In combination with the 4 skills in poking, rubbing, pressing, shoveling, the therapeutic principle was based on the "untie the knot" methods from "Huang Di Nei Gin"

■《史記》中記載：扁鵲使弟子子陽磨製砭石工具，在太子手足三陽經與五會穴上，用「撥筋法」使頭部陽氣下行，當聚在頭部的陽氣下行後，太子就醒來了，但原氣仍然不足，因此，扁鵲再使子豹以砭石熨其手少陰心經及手厥陰心包經，使陰氣上行，另外，砭熨關元、命門的位置以補元陽，調和陰陽兩氣，兩氣調和後再服湯藥二十天，即完全復原，因此，天下傳說扁鵲擁有起死回生的能力。

As recorded in "Xi Gi" history book, "Pian Chuey" applied Bian-stone needle on patient's 3 Yang meridian channels on respective legs and arms, and also the five acupuncture assemble points. He used poking methods to relieve the accumulated Yang Chi from heads down. When the blocked Yang Chi successfully circulated down from the head, the patient woke up afterwards. Since the vital energy of the patient remained low, "Pian Chuey" again used Bian stone to press down the two Ying meridian channels (heart and heart-surrounding) on the arms to push up the Ying Chi. In addition, he used Bian stone to press Guanyuan and Mingmen, the two acupuncture points to recover Tang Chi in order to balance Ying-Yang circulation. Subsequently, herbal medicine was prescribed to support the recovery. Therefore, "Pian Chuey" was known for his ability to revive human life.

■「十二經脈者，皆系予生氣之原；所謂生氣之原者，謂十二經之根本也，謂腎間動氣也」。腎間動氣的所在位置，晉．王叔和認為，動氣會出現在臍上或臍下，或左或右。腎間動氣是十二經氣之源，正常人陰陽協調，元氣應該潛而不越，國太子元氣不足，腎間動氣已失固攝之權，致陽氣偏亢而燥越，動必應手而成弦狀，表現出陰陽不平衡的狀況，治法宜補元陽之氣。

"The twelve meridian channels were connected to the origin of vital energy and this foundation of the 12 channels was known as the circulated Chi between the two kidneys. The circulated Chi existed near belly button is the origin of the Chi circulated in the 12 meridian channels. Normal people with balance Ying-Yang Chi, vital energy should reach a balanced level, strong but not hyper-active. The patient was not able to contain the circulated Chi between the Kidneys leading to hyper-active Yang Chi form the intestine channel and unbalanced Ying-Yang harmonization. It was suggested to treat with supplement of Yang Chi.

破冰之術 The technique to break the ice
熨化結冰的河道，讓身體的氣暢行無阻
Use heat to break the iced river canal; and allow the circulated Chi in the body to flow freely

古代將人體中肌肉束與肌肉束之間「氣」通道的體液稱為河道，當河道某處體液沾黏，就形同河道結冰一般，影響氣的運行，因此，中國古醫學就運用砭石來熨化，打開這個人體中結了冰的河道，此種療法稱為「解結」，而「解結」是古代經筋重要治則，以砭石針挑撥橫絡、解除卡壓，即為解結之法，也就是河道破冰的方法。

Ancient Chinese doctors used river canal and the running water to illustrate the Chi (and/or fluids) circulating through the gaps or channels of fascicles (muscle fiber bundles). If the two bundles stacked or attached to each other, the gap is blocked or even closed and the circulation of "Qi" would be hindered. Therefore, doctors used Bian stone to warm up the "ice" and break open the frozen river flows. This is so-called "untie the knot" therapy, an important ancient meridian therapeutic method using Bian stone needles to poke and shovel under the collateral obstacles and to release the accumulated pressure from the obstructed flows.

尖銳的砭石可以克服手指難以深入的身體部位，如肌肉與經筋深部，及關節周圍進行治療操作，尤其是深入已形成的結筋橫絡病灶部位，不管是對古代人或現代人來說，都是最方便有效的保健治療工具。

The sharp tip of a Bian stone can reach the body parts such as muscle, deep end of meridian channels, and joint area for better therapeutic efficacy, especially the ailment section with collateral blockage formed. Therefore, Bian stone is considered a most convenient and effective tool for self or professional treatment.

一撥見效 As effective as one "poke and shovel"

一撥脈法，見病之應，打通十二經筋，讓氣血運行 The "poke and shovel" methods is effective in ailment treatment, clear through the twelve meridian channels and their related fascicles and joints, allow the Chi and fluids to freely circulate through the channels.

「一撥脈法」創始於黃帝軒轅的醫臣俞胕，後傳承扁鵲、倉公和涪翁。「一撥脈法」是以十二經筋為基礎，達到循經感傳迅速消除病痛的效果，如果能正確操作砭石，從十二皮部→三百六十絡→十二絡經，促使十二經脈的血行暢通，內臟自然會達到虛實平橫，內分泌系統也會達到正常運作，免疫系統功能?此提升，疾病因而遠離，身體就會健康。

The "poke and shovel" method was first established by the royal doctor of "Huang Di", and subsequently passed on to "Pian Chuey" and fellows. The 'Poke and Shovel" method is based the concept of "12 meridian channels and associated fascicles and joints". Transmitting the Bian effects via the circulation in the meridian channels would relieve the pain and ailment in the remote end of the body. If Bian stone is used correctly, the Qi should circulate freely through the 12 skin surface circulation channels, to 360 connective chennels, to 12 branched channels and to the 12 meridian channels. At this stage, internal organs are balanced, endocrine hormones function normally, immune system is active, ailment do not occur, and the body is healthy.

砭石十二經筋治病原理
以榕樹理論來解釋，人體的十二經脈相當於植物的樹幹，十二經絡相當於植物的枝幹，三百六十絡相當於植物的細枝，這些經絡負責輸送能量供養全身，而十二皮部是人體皮膚，相當於植物的樹皮，具有運輸及防衛功能，而經絡上的穴位則相當於植物的氣根。人之所以生病，是因為十二皮部內因或外因造成的氣淤，血的運行是由氣推動，氣淤血就跟著淤帶，漸漸造成經絡阻塞，形成病理性的產物沉澱(例如腫瘤)。

Based on Banyan tree theory, the 12 meridian channels are the stems are the tree, 12 branched channels are the branches of the tree, 360 connective channels are the twigs of the tree. All of these channels are in charge of transporting nutrients and energy to the whole body. The 12 surface channels are similar to the bark of a tree, in charge of transports and defenses. The acupuncture points along the meridian channels are similar to the roots of a plant. When the circulation of Qi through the 12 surface channels was blocked due to internal or external ailment, people become ill. Since the circulation of blood is facilitated by Qi, the hindrance of Qi would lead to obstruction of blood circulation, gradually cause blockage of meridian channels and consequently result to pathologic aggregates of "materials" such as tumor.

砭石會吸收體內淤阻產生的熱能，在達到某一溫度時，放出紅外線滲透至汗線下，甚至更深層的淤阻部位，促進微血管循環旺盛，並且漸次讓十二經脈自然依序暢通，整個身體活絡起來。

Bian stone would absorb the thermo energy caused by obstructs of circulation. It can even release Infrared rays to reach deeper blockage area at higher temperature to promote blood circulation in capillary matrix, and consequently facilitate natural clear circulation of Qi along the 12 meridian channels leading to a healthy and active body.

砭術療法 Bian stone therapy
肌肉與肌肉之間為氣之通道，也是筋循行路線，當沾黏產生人體會發出疼痛警訊，如未與理會，漸至產生沙粒沉澱，久之成為硬結塊，嚴重成為條索狀，浮出於表，阻礙氣通道，讓五臟六腑病症產生。此時鬆解經筋結塊，挑撥橫絡(砭石針)，可解除卡壓。

The gaps or channels between the fascicle (muscle fiber bundles) are the passage for Qi. When the neighboring muscle bundle sticks to each other (one another) and block the passage, body would send waning sign as pain. If the warnings were neglected, there would be sands-like precipitates accumulated at the narrowed or blocked area, gradually became lumps, further developed into strips blocking the passage of Qi, and resulted to dysfunction of internal organs. At this time, application of Bian stone to break open the aggregates along the meridian channels would release the pressure from the collateral obstructs.

砭石療法範例說明：Case studies of Bian stone
造成頭部疼痛的原因很多，而大部份都不是因為疾病所引起，多半是來自某種誘因，包括環境、工作壓力、噪音、生理期...等，因此，除了日常自我照護之外，改變生活型態是解決頭痛問題的重要關鍵。

Headaches are resulted from various causes where most of the causes are not serious disorders. Those causes include environments, work pressure, noise, menstrual periods, and etc. In addition to self-cares, change of life styles is a key solution to treat headaches.

以砭石療法著手，必須先找出引起頭痛的相關病筋，再以一撥脈法之按、壓、撥手法，撥開所沾黏的病筋。治療姿勢採坐姿操作，其操作順序為：

In order to attend headache using Bian stone, we need to first identify the meridian channels that causing headaches, then to apply "poke and shovel the channels methods" using press, push, poke and shovel skills to separate the bound fascicles. The patient should sit down and the technique is demonstrated as the follows.

(1) 操作一：Step one
依照斜方肌病筋反應位置1上斜方肌2中斜方肌3下斜方肌的順序，左手食指、中指按住部位，右持砭石針壓下，由上往下用撥手法消除斜方肌的病筋，促使斜方肌氣血循環暢通。

Follow the ailment meridian tracts of trapezius muscle in the order of, 1 upper trapezius muscle, 2 middle trapezius muscle, 3 lower trapezius muscle. Press the ailment section by index and middle fingers, hold the Bian stone needle with right hand and push down, and from the top down, poke and shovel the gaps between muscle and fascicle to relieve the ailment. The circulation of Qi and blood around the trapezius muscle area will then be recovered.

(2) 操作二：Step two
依照胸鎖乳突肌鎖骨頭病筋的反應位置，如圖標示，左手食指、中指按住部位，右持砭石針壓下，由上往下用撥手法，促使胸鎖乳突肌鎖骨頭氣血通暢。

Follow the ailment meridian tracts of sternocleidomastoid muscle and clavicle as shown in Figure, press the body section with Index and middle fingers, hold Bian stone needle in the right hand and push down, poke and shovel from up-side down, allow the circulation around sternocleidomastoid muscle and clavicle to recover.

(3) 操作三：Step three
顳肌依照1 2 3 4順序，左手食指、中指按住部位，右手持砭石針壓下，由上往下依序用撥的手法促使顳肌氣血暢通。

Follow the 1234 order to treat temporalis, press the body section with Index and middle fingers, hold Bian stone needle in the right hand and push down, poke and shovel from up-side down, allow the circulation around temporalis to recover.

(4) 操作四：Step four
枕肌由外側向內側依照1 2 3 4順序，左手食指、中指按住部位，右手持砭石針壓下，由上往下依序用撥的手法促使枕肌氣血暢通。

Follow the 1234 order to treat ocellar part of occipitofrontalis, press the body section with Index and middle fingers, hold Bian stone needle in the right hand and push down, poke and shovel from up-side down, allow the circulation around ocellar part of occipitofrontalis to recover.

(5) 操作五：Step five
額肌連著帽狀腱膜，由中心線往外側分成四條線依序為：1中心線2眼內眥線3瞳孔中心線4眼外眥線，依照1 2 3 4順序，左手食指、中指按住部位，右手持砭石針壓下，由前往後用撥的手法促使帽狀腱膜和額肌氣血暢通。

Follow the frontalis part of occipitofrontalis to galea aponeurotica, divide to 4 lines from center line outward as 1 center line, 2 inner eye-canthus, 3 center line of eye pupil, 4 outer eye-canthus, Follow the 1234 order to treat ocellar part of occipitofrontalis, press the body section with Index and middle fingers, hold Bian stone needle in the right hand and push down, poke and shovel from up-side down, allow the circulation around ocellar part of occipitofrontalis to recover.
