Bian is one of the five therapeutic systems in Chinese traditional medicine. It means “using stone to treat disease”, that is, people used stone-poking to treat various illness. Therefore, in the ancient time, when people took stone to push, rub, press or hit body in order to treat illness, the practice were called Bian-technique. The terminology of Bian-Stone was not recognized until a special stone was identified with ability to absorb or convert ailment and pathogeny.
